Helping Out A
Lifelong Friend
I have known Dave it seems forever. We met while working
at the local amusement park. This summer Dave and his girlfriend Carrie
decided that they wanted to stop renting and fulfill the American dream
of owning their own house. They looked at many houses, and finally
decided on one. After sitting down and putting a bid on a house, they
realized that it was going to be tougher than they thought, especially
with the bills that seem to be coming out of nowhere. Although they
knew they’d be OK after they closed on the house, closing wasn’t for
another few weeks, and they weren’t sure how they were going to make it
through these next few weeks. Carrie already works two jobs, and at
this point anyone getting another job wouldn’t help them any, as they
needed the money sooner rather than later.
When I told them about
what I was doing with Pay-It-Forward, they were delighted to say the
least. They had never had this kind of gift before, and didn’t know how
to react. I again explained the purpose of pay it forward, and how this
was the perfect situation. The money didn’t really come from me, it
came from Paradigm, and they didn’t have to pay me back, in fact I
didn’t want to be paid back. They had to “Pay-It-Forward” to someone
else. Dave explained that it helped a lot, and he would definitely do
what he could to “Pay-It-Forward.”
