Paying for Power

Our family is encouraged by the Pay-It-Forward campaign, especially since it reinforces how I we have tried to raise our children.  In the past but we always looked at it as a part of our nature to reach out and help others.  We have always been thankful for the fact that we have been blessed enough to be able to be a blessing to others.

Our most recent story that I can share is helping a family pay their electric bill.  I spoke to a young mother of a family of 4 on the day that they received a notice to disconnect their service if they did not pay in full by 10 Sept 08.  They tried hard to avoid borrowing any money because they did not feel certain they could pay it back any time soon.  On the day that the service was due to be disconnected, my husband and I paid their bill in full and told them not to stress themselves with worrying about paying us back.  If some day in the future they have the means of paying us back they can but if not, that's okay too.  We would rather they use the money to take care of their family and other things that may come up in the future.
