Paradigm’s “Pay It Forward” program allowed my 11-year old daughter
and friend to deliver a carload of housing supplies to the United
Community Ministries “New Beginnings Closet”. Supplies from this
closet are offered to local families transitioning to new homes
after periods of homelessness. Some of these families attend my
daughter’s school. We stretched the dollars by shopping at a dollar
store where we almost emptied shelves of cleaning supplies, brooms,
buckets, pots and pans, towels and other essential supplies needed
to help these families feel empowered in their new homes. The UCM
closet desperately needed re-stocking. The “Pay it Forward” concept
was, or will be explained, to everyone touched by this effort,
including the givers and the receivers. The young girls learned how
good it feels to help someone less fortunate, the UCM staff was
grateful to Paradigm’s continued support, and I am confident that
the recipients will pass on their kindness and help to others when
they are able. Giving is contagious!
